By now, your church has moved or is in the process of moving to some sort of online expression for your weekend service. For a lot of churches, this has been a pretty steep learning curve. And it’s also come with a new set of challenges with regards to communicating effectively to your church family. I want to give you three practical things that you can do to clarify your communication during COVID-19.

1. COVID-19 Button on Your Homepage. Now, ordinarily, I would tell you that the most important element on the homepage of your website is a “plan a visit” button. But right wow, that’s pretty much a useless tool. Right now, the most important feature of your homepage is COVID-19 button; a simple, clear call to action that helps your Web site visit or know exactly where they need to go for the latest information about your church during COVID-19. Make sure the button is easy to see, above the fold and labeled clearly. If your church website typically has a lot of activity on the home page. Things like pop ups, sliders or videos. Today would be the day to turn those features off. Remove all distraction. Lead every website visitor to the same call to action.

Use a graphic. Keep it simple, but make it clear. You don’t need to get fancy or overly creative. Just be clear. In times like these, clarity always trumps creativity.
