Located in the geographic center of Maryland, Baltimore County almost entirely surrounds the city of Baltimore, which was split off as an independent city in 1851. The county is the largest jurisdiction in the metropolitan area, with a population of more than 800,000.

Baltimore County and its county seat – Towson – form a diverse business community located centrally along I-95 and the East Coast market. With 612 square miles of land and a deep-water port, Baltimore County has the third largest land area, the third largest population and the second highest number of jobs in Maryland.

Dayne & Anastasia Carraway

For his entire life, Dayne Carraway has called the Clinton Grace Brethren Church his home. It is the church in which he developed his own spiritual roots and, since 2012, it is where he has served as the Minister of Youth. But things will soon be changing for Dayne and his wife, Anastasia, as they respond to God’s call to lead a new church planting initiative in Baltimore County, Maryland.

Home to more than 830,000 residents, Baltimore County is a greatly under-reached region, with only one church for every 9000 residents.

While the Charis Fellowship has a bona fide presence in Maryland, with 15 churches throughout the state, Baltimore City and Baltimore County remain untouched by our family. The Carraways and the Clinton Grace Brethren Church are believing that will change by the year 2020 as they have joined in partnership with Assist to develop a plan to plant a new church that will reach many people who are far from God and lead them to becoming disciples of Jesus.

Pastor Irving Clark has cast a vision to the Clinton GBC family to consider how this effort will be a legacy-building opportunity for their church. Sending the Carraways, along with others who may join their team, is part of the fabric and foundation of who they are as a church. Touching the lives of those far from God and seeing those lives transformed by the gospel is the motivation behind everything they do as a church. And this initiative is no different. Although the two churches will eventually be separate, autonomous churches, the DNA of the Clinton church will be embedded in the ministry of the new church by the sheer fact that they are sending one of their own home-grown disciples to lead the church plant.

Although the praying and planning has already started for the church plant, Dayne and Anastasia will remain in Clinton until June 2019, then they will relocate to their target area in Baltimore County. The Clinton church operates a school as part of their ministry. The youth ministry at the church is well entwined with the school and Anastasia is a teacher at the school, therefore all parties feel that their completion of this school year is in everyone’s best interest.
