Like many cities within a short drive from Toronto, Cambridge has experienced rapid growth in recent years increasing by nearly 10,000 people in the past 10 years. Current projections show Cambridge growing from a population of 129,920 to 180,000 by 2031. Much of this growth will take place north of the Macdonald–Cartier Freeway (Highway 401), North America’s busiest highway, which passes through the city. This is the area in focus for the fourth campus of Renew Church, a multisite church with campuses in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Erik and Austen Jensen

Erik and Austen Jensen have been married for 7 years (already?) and have three wonderful children. As a family, they love to laugh and sing and find adventure wherever it takes them. Erik is currently enrolled at Grace College and is the Director of Family Ministry at Rittman GBC. Erik is passionate about making disciples by connecting relationally and pushing people to take one step towards Jesus at a time. Erik and Austen love coffee shops, camping trips, and hosting backyard barbecues!

About the project

For quite some time Renew Church has been considering the growing community of Cambridge, Ontario as the location for a potential fourth campus joining Meadowvale, Milton and Mayfield West in their multisite structure. It wasn’t long before 8 adults and their families from the existing Meadowvale and Milton campuses made the move to Cambridge and began forming a core team to explore the possibilities in the area. Among those who have relocated are Armando and Odila Padovan who agreed to serve as “Cambridge Catalysts”. While the core team has been meeting together, making connections in the community and honing in on the location for the new campus, Renew Church’s leadership has been working with Assist to find a suitable Campus Pastor. Renew and Assist are excited to announce that Erik and Austen Jensen have accepted the position and will be moving from Ohio to Cambridge in August/September 2017.
