Chelsea, Michigan is a thriving community just west of Ann Arbor that has been lacking a relevant Bible-based and gospel focused church. Main Street Church intends to fill that void as a missional church representing Jesus and impacting the surrounding communities of Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Clinton, Grass Lake, Stockbridge and Gregory.

Public launch

Josh & Andrea Kuck

Josh and Andrea, along with their four girls, moved to Holt, Michigan in 2014 to join a one-year church planting residency. This program has enabled them to have the time and training that has been valuable to planting in Chelsea. After surveying communities throughout the state, they come across two thriving sister communities devoid of a relevant Bible-based and gospel focused church: Chelsea and Dexter. Each time they have visited and talked to those who live there, God confirms to them that He can use their gifts, experiences and passion for the gospel to impact the individuals in these unique communities. The Kuck family moved into Chelsea in September of 2015.

About the project

Since the Kuck family arrived in Chelsea in September of 2015, they have been forming a core team in preparation for their public launch in September 2017. That team is comprised of 12 families who are meeting once a month and have committed to giving, prayer, serving, devotion and accountability. Main Street Church is already operating a partial schedule of Sunday worship services and small group gatherings that have seen members of the community come to faith and connect with the launch team. The leadership team has formulated ministry and discipleship paths that consist of relevant worship services, “Next Step” groups and community service initiatives. Main Street Church is grateful for the financial partnership of Osceola Grace, Marysville Grace, Wooster Grace, Fremont Grace and Riverview Church in addition to 10 independent families who have provided their support. The leadership expects independence midway through 2019 with 2020 being the first full year of independence.
